{"id":1083,"date":"2021-11-05T15:00:44","date_gmt":"2021-11-05T15:00:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/drtomstours.com\/?p=1083"},"modified":"2021-11-09T17:44:15","modified_gmt":"2021-11-09T17:44:15","slug":"walking-tours-open-the-belfast-festival-of-social-sciences","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/drtomstours.com\/index.php\/2021\/11\/05\/walking-tours-open-the-belfast-festival-of-social-sciences\/","title":{"rendered":"Walking tours open the Belfast Festival of Social Sciences"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">Saturday (6.11.21) marks the start of a series of walking tours as part of this year\u2019s Festival of Social Science run by Queen University Belfast and Ulster University throughout November 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div id=\"section-g138c9c\" class=\"wp-block-gutentor-e6 section-g138c9c gutentor-element gutentor-element-image\"><div class=\"gutentor-element-image-box\"><div class=\"gutentor-image-thumb\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"normal-image\" src=\"https:\/\/drtomstours.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/cropped-cropped-Belfast-City-HAll-scaled-1.jpg\" \/><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">The Festival is run by the <a href=\"https:\/\/esrc.ukri.org\/about-us\/\">Economic and Social Research Council<\/a> that funds social science research in the UK.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">It is an <a href=\"(https:\/esrc.ukri.org\/public-engagement\/festival-of-social-science\/about-the-festival\/\">annual celebration<\/a> of the social sciences (e.g. history, political science, geography, etc) and features over 300 events from 34 partners across the UK.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">Working with QUB, myself and a number of other Belfast tour guides who are either <a href=\"https:\/\/nitga.co.uk\/\">Northern Ireland Tourist Guide Association<\/a> Blue Badge Guides, or recently completed the Association&#8217;s Belfast Green Badge, are putting on free walking tours of the city centre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">The walks aim  to show how the history and human story of the city through its built environment and public art.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">For those interested in participating in the walks more information is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eventbrite.co.uk\/e\/the-story-of-belfasts-streets-free-walking-tour-tickets-166152926877?aff=ebdsoporgprofile\">here<\/a>.
