{"id":1130,"date":"2021-11-16T15:08:16","date_gmt":"2021-11-16T15:08:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/drtomstours.com\/?p=1130"},"modified":"2021-11-16T15:10:33","modified_gmt":"2021-11-16T15:10:33","slug":"second-weekend-of-free-walks-for-the-social-science-festival","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/drtomstours.com\/index.php\/2021\/11\/16\/second-weekend-of-free-walks-for-the-social-science-festival\/","title":{"rendered":"Second weekend of free walks for the Social Science Festival"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div id=\"section-gb2c51d\" class=\"wp-block-gutentor-e6 section-gb2c51d gutentor-element gutentor-element-image\"><div class=\"gutentor-element-image-box\"><div class=\"gutentor-image-thumb\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"normal-image\" src=\"https:\/\/drtomstours.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/IMG-2748-scaled-e1637075072367.jpg\" \/><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group is-layout-flow wp-block-group-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">This weekend (13 &amp;14<sup>th<\/sup> November) marked the second weekend of free walking tours that are being run as part of the <a href=\"https:\/\/esrc.ukri.org\/about-us\/\">Economic and Social Research Council<\/a>\u2019s Festival of Social Sciences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">The Festival is an&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/drtomstours.com\/index.php\/2021\/11\/05\/walking-tours-open-the-belfast-festival-of-social-sciences\/(https:\/esrc.ukri.org\/public-engagement\/festival-of-social-science\/about-the-festival\/\">annual celebration<\/a>&nbsp;of the social sciences (e.g. history, political science, geography, etc) and features over 300 events from 34 partners across the UK.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">Working with QUB, myself and a number of other Belfast tour guides who are either\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/nitga.co.uk\/\">Northern Ireland Tourist Guide Association<\/a>\u00a0Blue Badge Guides, or recently completed the Association\u2019s Belfast Green Badge course, are putting on free walking tours of the city centre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">The walks aim to show how the history and human story of the city through its built environment and public art.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">For those interested in participating in the walks more information is&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.eventbrite.co.uk\/e\/the-story-of-belfasts-streets-free-walking-tour-tickets-166152926877?aff=ebdsoporgprofile\">here<\/a>.
