William McCready was shaken by the sights of devastation and damage around him. He recalled that he \u2018was very fatigued and depressed at this time. I was reporting each day for duty at the head post office, and on my journey in by bike the scenes of destruction were deeply impressed on my mine\u2026It all seemed a terrible nightmare\u2019.[1]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div id=\"section-g763684\" class=\"wp-block-gutentor-e6 section-g763684 gutentor-element gutentor-element-image\"><div class=\"gutentor-element-image-box\"><div class=\"gutentor-image-thumb\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"normal-image\" src=\"https:\/\/drtomstours.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/BT-26.4.41-p.6.jpg\" \/><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">An article in the Northern Whig talked about one woman Eva. Eva\u2019s family had evacuated out of Belfast after the raid and Eva was commuting into the city for work in a shop. Though she was doing \u2018business as usual\u2019 she was a \u2018bundle of nerves\u2019 ever since the raid.<a id=\"_ftnref2\" href=\"#_ftn2\">[2]<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div id=\"section-g432bd0\" class=\"wp-block-gutentor-e6 section-g432bd0 gutentor-element gutentor-element-image\"><div class=\"gutentor-element-image-box\"><div class=\"gutentor-image-thumb\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"normal-image\" src=\"https:\/\/drtomstours.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/NW-25.4.41-p.4.jpg\" \/><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Newspapers carried adverts for cures and pills that would help relieve anguish. The Northern Whig carried an advert for Koray Brand Tables that would &#8216;take war worries of your nerves&#8217;. They advert recommended that the pink tables helped people cope with the demands of war and eased the nerves.<a id=\"_ftnref3\" href=\"#_ftn3\">[3]<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Other adverts were carried by other papers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div id=\"section-g0c8573\" class=\"wp-block-gutentor-e6 section-g0c8573 gutentor-element gutentor-element-image\"><div class=\"gutentor-element-image-box\"><div class=\"gutentor-image-thumb\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"normal-image\" src=\"https:\/\/drtomstours.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/BT-28.4.41-p.4.-v3jpg.jpg\" \/><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">ABOUT<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Between 7<sup>th<\/sup> April and 6<sup>th<\/sup> May 1941, four aerial bombing raids on Belfast killed over 900 people, injured 1,500 and damaged about half of the city\u2019s homes. Thousands were made homeless and over 100,000 residents fled to the country. This period in Belfast\u2019s history has become known as the Belfast Blitz.
