It was established in its current place in 1999. It is a 10 metre long representation of The Salmon of Knowledge (in Irish: brad\u00e1n feasa), an animal figuring \u201cThe Boyhood Deeds of Fionn\u201d, tales that feature in Irish mythology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div id=\"section-g3d103e\" class=\"wp-block-gutentor-e6 section-g3d103e gutentor-element gutentor-element-image\"><div class=\"gutentor-element-image-box\"><div class=\"gutentor-image-thumb\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"normal-image\" src=\"https:\/\/drtomstours.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/20220526_124838-scaled.jpg\" \/><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The story tells of a fish that eats some hazelnuts that had fallen into the Well of Wisdom. After devouring the nuts, the salmon gained all the knowledge in the world. According to the tale, the first person to eat the fish would gains all of its knowledge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div id=\"section-gfc7e7a\" class=\"wp-block-gutentor-e6 section-gfc7e7a gutentor-element gutentor-element-image\"><div class=\"gutentor-element-image-box\"><div class=\"gutentor-image-thumb\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"normal-image\" src=\"https:\/\/drtomstours.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/20220526_124825-scaled.jpg\" \/><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The outer skin of the fish is a cladding of ceramic tiles decorated with texts and pictures relating to the history of Belfast. It features images from Tudor times to present day newspaper headlines along with contributions from school children across Belfast (including a soldier and an Ulster Fry).
