My Green Badge has arrived today and I’m very proud.

The Green Badge is a qualification awarded by the Institute of Tourist Guiding (ITG) that assesses the skills and knowledge of guides and certifies them to lead tours in a designated geographical area such as Belfast.

Being awarded the Belfast Green Badge qualification means that:

• my skills, knowledge and conduct have been assessed as meeting ITG professional standards to safety, expertly and competently to guide and lead tours.
• I am subject to professional standards and expectations of the ITG to keep my knowledge up to date an behave in a professional and courteous manner.
• I am serious and professional about tour guiding, invested time, money and effort to learn by leading industry professionals and want to learn and develop as a tour guide within a community of qualified guides.

I started the course in the Autumn of 2020 and it was administered by Northern Ireland Tourist Guide Association.
